Allow us to introduce ourselves!
We are the mavens who run this blog. But it wasn’t always just us…..
Julie’s dream of having a recipe blog became a reality in July of 2011, when Mormon Mavens in the Kitchen was launched with fourteen total authors. We were all so excited for this new venture and began posting recipes as quickly as we could. Most of the time, each Maven posted once a week on a specific day (two Mavens per day) Monday through Saturday. And from the beginning we have posted our Mormon Morsels (spiritual posts with topics chosen by each Maven) on Sundays. Once the recipes began to build up, we changed to each Maven posting every other week.
Over the years, Mavens have come and gone as their individual lives have dictated. But we have enjoyed having all the Mavens contribute for however long they were able. As of March 2016, this blog has hosted a total of 21 blog authors who have provided nearly 1100 recipe and spiritual posts. We appreciate their creativity and enthusiasm!
As the blog grew and became more popular, we realized the need for more functionality and greater customization. With only a few Mavens actively posting, the time was right to make a big change. In mid-2015, Anna and Julie began the process of overhauling and redesigning Mormon Mavens in the Kitchen. We wanted a simpler, cleaner look and the flexibility to explore creative topics outside of the kitchen. After transitioning the site to a new blogging platform, Anna and Julie relaunched Mormon Mavens in April of 2016.
Mormon Mavens is now run by two mavens–Julie (the blog creator) and her sister, Anna (one of the original mavens). This new and improved blog is a labor of love for us not only because of the upgrade itself, but also because of our appreciation for all the previous mavens who have made this blog so popular. Making sure their recipes are always available, even though they are no longer blogging with us, is important to us. Transitioning their recipes to our new format is an ongoing project, so we appreciate your patience in that regard.
So now you know how it all began. Let’s see where we go from here!
